Kodiak Island, Alaska
JULY 15 - SEPTEMBER 30

RIVER RAFT FISHING ADVENTURE!

Experience the excitement of a mild white-water river raft trip in an untouched part of Kodiak Island. If you want to separate from the crowds and would like to fish, view wildlife, or just relax in a truly peaceful setting, then this trip is for you.

The river is over 30 miles long and is fed from the only glacier on Kodiak Island. Our float trip takes you approximately 17 miles down the lower part of the river. Fly 10 minutes in one of our airplanes into a small lake that feeds into the main river. From this lake, the guide will pack the raft and most of the gear 10 minutes to a small feeder stream where the raft can be pumped up. Be ready to pack any of the personal things you brought from the lake to the raft, so you could get rafting soon. Once the raft is inflated and everything is packed in dry bags, your guide will walk the raft and you to the undisturbed, remote river about 45 minutes away. Get ready to raft!!!

The first day will be fairly calm water. You can expect to find many eagles, deer, ducks, species of birds and even the occasional bear fishing or walking along the river bank. Take a walk on the river bank and examine the different bird and animal tracks, or cast for record size Silver, Chum, Pink Salmon and Dolly Varden. Nearing four to five o'clock, it is time to set up camp and do some exploring, fishing or just relaxing. We provide all the camping equipment, which is cleaned after every trip.

Day two and three will bring a little more excitement on the water, for there will be some preliminary rapids. Fish, bird watch and enjoy the pristine beauty for the day. Walk down river to view two sets of the white-water in which will get the adrenaline rushing. There are six sets of white-water rapids over the entire river, all of them within the last 4 miles. Shooting the rapids is a really safe operation for your guide has had experience in rafting this river. It is what you have been waiting for...white-water river rafting on Kodiak Island Let out a whoop when you reach the calm water in the beautiful canyon. Ride a few minutes more and then its time to pack up and get picked up to go back to the Zachar Bay Lodge for the creature comforts, after your adventure in nature.
